I saw this on Make and my head start spinning, my heart palpitating, and my robot love equivalent of beatle’s mania hit full force! It’s finally the future!!!!!! YAY!
New Zealand is totally setting things on fire lately. First the Flight of the Conchords, and now this? Pretty soon they’ll be the ones who FINALLY get me a hover car. And a bionic arm. Remember NZ, I asked first. This is me going on record.
This isn’t exactly humor, but it is amusing so it fits in my “things I like from the internet and elsewhere” motto.
She is such a bad-ass! Doing her own stunts. Rocking out. Possessing awesome hair. She also performs in a metal bikini, and cuts apart televisions with chainsaws. I haven’t seen it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she made it a point to chop apart phallic symbols with a chainsaw as well.
Over dubbing cartoons to make them naughty never gets old. Or it hasn’t yet.
Small story, then to bed. I am notoriously not aware of popular music. I usually listen to public radio or daydream. So I didn’t really know the Black Eyed Peas until I say the Alanis Morrisette version last spring:
And I was like, “WTF?” So then I watched all the Black Eyed Peas videos. And I enjoyed them, but at the same time I was disgusted with myself. I can’t figure out whether they are being tongue in cheek, though I doubt they are. Anyway, here we go for referance:
And just in case you wanted to know all the worlds, this version has subtitles. Don’t blame me if you bang your head on your keyboard after reading the lyrics. Consider yourself warned. I don’t want no drama.
ETA: Around the 2 minute mark on the Black Eyed Peas version of my humps it looks like the ladies are wearing tails. Turns out it’s just a towel/scarf..but I see this as a sign that furries are entering mainstream media.
Is this pop? It doesn’t seem as obnoxious as the “j-pop” my sister listens to, or maybe it’s just not annoying to me and it is to the rest of the world. Either way, the video’s kinda funny:
I started watching another music video and it really didn’t capture me (I counted once, it needs to grip me by second 8 or I start getting bored), but then I saw this remix of a Rip Slyme song (whoever he is, expect a report later) with a Polysics music video. Suddenly, totally intriguing:
ps Rip Slyme is super special, he deserves his own tribute post
A dude couchsurfing with me clued me into Nerf Herder a week or so ago, how awesome is the song!
I kind of like how the band member who plays spock is a bit hipster looking with those big black glasses, it really makes sense to me for some reason. Maybe I should eat breakfast. I also think that i need to revisit my desire for a Star Trek uniform.
This clip from “Pennin Manathai Thottu” is I think right up there with the best things I’ve seen recently. It’s not quite obsessive material, but I do watch it every few days and I’m just as mesmerized. The Song is “Kalluri Vaanil” and the stars are Prabhu Deva and Jaya Sheel. Prepare to be blown away.
Wow. Just. Wow. It starts of all Top Gunny (is that the movie? Brain is melted) then turns into, what it is! The highlights for me start around 2:15. First he seems to grab her inappropriately. Then they do some dirty dancing. Then, if you are up to speed on Tunak Tunak Tun, you will recognize the “play the sitar” move. And I love her sweet voice, his scraggly dress, and well just everything.
I’m going to bed now to dream about moving to India and becoming a Bollywood Star.
Another night of working on my website. I think this is about the 5th day strait I’ve been photographing, editing, uploading, designing and feeling like bashing my head on my keyboard. And this isn’t even for Miss Tess, I’m catching up on Made by Tess so I can dedicate the next 6 weeks to working on that. Just a little bit more sewing, photographing and tweaking and I’m done. DONE I say. AHHHHH.
Anyway, to prevent myself from having a breakdown and going totally insane while I work I listen to Yelle. Not only is she cute, charming and bouncy she’s also French so no matter what she’s saying it sounds so totally interesting. These are my 2 favorite videos, the first is something else. I’m not sure if this is a fan video or what, but it’s still AWESOME! Behold, A Cause des Garcons
If you would like to see the original version, go here!
And now for my favorite, “Je Veux Te Voir”, it’s probably the outfits. Definately the outfits. And I’m not being sarcastic.
While searching for this song I found another video which has subtitles! Reading more closely, it seems like this song is about chippendales, le filme pornography, accessories fetiches, and “Cuizi c’est tas position favorite, Tes performances Olympique, mai tu n’as rien d’orgasmique” which even if you don’t speak french (which I don’t) it seems pretty apparent what they are saying. There is also a line about Magic Johnson and something about “crunk slam dunks”. This is killer hilarious. And the best thing, it inspires teenagers to coat themselve in makeup and do web cam lip synch videos!
Okay back to work! And I think tomorrow I’m going to sport blue eyeshadow and red lipstick. I’m sure it will be incredibly flattering with my hair.
PS If you speak french please chime in with any translations!
It’s a very quiet rainy day and somehow the extremely loud video POWERTHIRST I’d chosen for this morning didn’t seem like a great idea. So instead I chose this charming love story by the same folks who brought us “Bathtime at Clerkenwell“:
And I guess this is my mothers day post, did you catch the baby phonograph? AWwwww!!!!
M.I.A is adorable, her music is interesting, and she has fab style. I just saw this video for the first time and I was blown away!
I had a dream about it last night, I can’t remember the context but it was bizarre. I’m beginning to notice a trend. If I watch music videos at 4 am I will have a dream about it the next day. Go figure!
